Groningen – The Knowledge Platform Leefbaar en Kansrijk Groningen has launched its website. Knowledge about the social consequences of gas extraction and the earthquakes in Groningen is continuously posted on www.kennisplatform.nl.

“We think it is important that the knowledge about the social consequences of gas extraction is transparent to interested parties. We do this by bundling various studies from knowledge institutions and agencies on this knowledge website,” says Nienke Busscher, project coordinator of the platform. “The size and complexity of the file surrounding gas extraction and soil movement is enormous. By providing insight into what we know, knowledge becomes accessible and therefore more useful,” she continues.

The Knowledge Platform Leefbaar en Kansrijk Groningen organizes meetings and public conferences in which knowledge is shared. In addition, the knowledge platform annually compiles an overview of existing articles. This overview and the activities of the platform can be found on the website. The knowledge platform also compiles a knowledge agenda with research questions, so that more targeted research can be carried out. Four themes are central to the activities of the knowledge platform: stimulating personal resilience, a healthy and livable living environment, economic and social vitality and restoring trust in mutual relationships, rules and structures.

The Knowledge Platform Leefbaar en Kansrijk Groningen has been active since April 2018 and is a partnership between the University of Groningen, Hanze University Groningen, CMO-STAMM/Social Planning Bureau Groningen and GGD Groningen. The initiator is National Coordinator Groningen (NCG).
