Results of the knowledge table on bottom-up initiatives of 21 November 2019
The knowledge table on April 20, 2020 has yielded concrete ideas and recommendations that can be used to promote bottom-up initiatives and to strengthen cooperation between residents, authorities, and organisations.
For example, residents are increasingly expected to take and receive more responsibility for the quality of life in their neighbourhood. This requires 'resilient communities', new forms of residents' initiatives and 'do participation'. In practice, however, residents' initiatives are often organized ad hoc or per subject.
In addition, trust and open, honest, and continuous communication are necessary conditions and the processes that villages and neighborhoods have to deal with are complex and not always transparent. Trusted intermediaries and village supporters, who
being linked to the village by the municipality, can play an important role in this.
